Fine dispersion is to break the condensation or reunion of the pigment, so that its particles are smaller, and the key is to evenly disperse, the dispersion effect on the luster, transparency, luster, fiber strength, elongation, aging resistance, electric negative rate and so on.


Generally speaking, the particle size of the pigment dispersion is less than 1um to be used for fiber or ultra-thin film, and more than 5um will lead to the surface of the fiber luster, more than 10um will lead to spots on the surface of the fiber, and with the increase in the size of the fiber breaking strength, elongation continues to decline. The smaller the particle size, the stronger the coloring power, the better the dispersion, and the smaller the particle size makes the surface increase, resulting in an increase in hiding power.


Because the pigment particle state has three kinds of primary particles, condensates, and reunion, and the single commodity pigment particles are larger than the reunion particles (about 75-250um), it must be dispersed, the so-called pigment dispersion is the process of crushing and refining the reunion.


The dispersion of pigments, first of all, is to wet the pigment with wetting agent, coated on the surface of the pigment, so that the cohesion between the pigments is reduced, reducing the energy required to break the pigment reunion, followed by the crushing of the pigment fine, leading the free movement between the pigment particles (impact stress) and the pigment reunion through the shear stress of the surrounding medium to break the reunion particles. After the pigment is dispersed and refined, the particle size decreases, the surface area increases, and the free energy of the pigment surface also increases, resulting in the instability of the refined pigment, so the coating treatment should be carried out on the surface of the pigment in a single step to reduce the newly formed interface surface energy and prevent re-condensation, and then the pigment is mixed and dispersed in the melt, that is, the wet and crushed pigment is evenly dispersed and distributed into the material that needs to be colored.
